Dave Sayre: How to Kill a Marvin Gaye Song

4 October 2013 – 26 January 2014

How to Kill a Marvin Gaye Song shows twelve major works of painting, along with drawings, two floor sculptures, and installation and site-specific fabric environments produced in the last five years by Tucson-based artist Dave Sayre. His exhibition in the East Wing will be a comprehensive overview of Sayre’s outstanding achievements in painting, from humorously mind-bending combinations of octopuses, horses, rainbows, and the riotous bunnies and dot motifs of his “Wonderful” series, to more recent work that take the painting off the canvas and directly onto the floor and into space.
