FAQ’sWhen is MOCA on The Plaza open?Summer Series Hours: FRI-SAT 12-5pm. We are closed on national holidays and during seasonal breaks between major exhibitions. Call ahead to confirm that MOCA on The Plaza is open. Is there an admission charge?If you are a MOCA member, admission is always free. Admission for non-members is $5. Your very first (introductory) museum visit to MOCA is free. Special events and programs sometimes have different admission fees and sometimes are free. Every Third Thursday of the month during fall and spring exhibitions, admission is FREE to all. Where is MOCA on The Plaza?We are located at 149 North Stone Avenue in the heart of downtown Tucson next to the Main Library. How do I contact MOCA?Here are a few ways: Is there parking?Ample FREE parking is available AFTER 6pm and on the weekends on the street and in the lots surrounding MOCA on The Plaza. PLEASE NOTE: during our weekday hours, visitors are advised to use metered spaces on the street (bring change) or to park in pay parking lots in the downtown area. There is a pay lot underneath the Main Library at Stone and Alameda and at Pennington and Scott (The Pennington Garage). Please note that this lot closes promptly at 5pm on Saturdays. Is the artwork for sale?No; we are a museum, not a commercial gallery space. If you leave us your information, however, we’d be happy to put you in touch with the artist. How do I go about sharing my work with the curators at MOCA?MOCA exhibitions are curated by Museum staff and planned up to five years in advance. You are welcome to share your work with us, but please be advised, due to the volume of submissions, we cannot respond to or return unsolicited packages, even if they include a s.a.s.e. What do you show at MOCA?We exhibit the work of contemporary artists (circa 1970 to present). As a museum, we strive to display a range of work that engages with global trends in contemporary art. We exhibit artists from all around the world, and, of course, from right here at home in Tucson. We mount six to eight temporary exhibitions each year, some solo exhibitions and some thematic group exhibitions. We are building a permanent collection, but it is not yet on permanent display. Does MOCA have an internship program?Yes! In fact, we have a formal Museum Studies Internship Program that university students can receive credit for. The program works on a semester basis. The Fall program runs from September through December, the Spring program runs from January through May and the Summer program runs from June through August. Contact MOCA for an application.
