Andy Steinbrink | How to Make and Mend Cast Nets

18 February – 28 May 2017

Three groupings of art and objects related to Tucson, New York, and Tallahassee, places where the artist has lived, recount the artist’s adventures on planet earth. Steinbrink’s symbolic and thoughtful attempt to show people what he finds beautiful in this world comprises glazed ceramics, mementos, and illustrations arranged on handmade multicolored sanded shelves. These are displayed with a traditional landscape painting of the artist’s favorite Florida fishing spot and wall hangings gathered from nature.  A compelling brew of votive-like personal reliquaries and found objects create a powerful evocation of crucial memories, times, and sites in Steinbrink’s life.
